Brush lettering workshop

 

This 2-hour workshop is available for anyone who is interested in brush lettering by watercolor.

What you'll do

 

First, we'll introduce ourselves and get to know each other. Then I will introduce the tools such as watercolor paints, brushes, and paper. After that, I will demonstrate brush lettering as well as telling you a little bit about its history. We will start by writing characters from A to Z by using a brush and watercolor. Finally, we will start writing words and sentences on cards. I will also show you how to overcome difficulties we may face during the lettering.

In the workshop, you'll learn the basic process of brush lettering, including how to mix watercolors, hold the brush, and choose the good quality watercolor paper. By the end, you'll be able to write 26 characters in English and some encouraging sentences. No experience is needed. I prefer small group workshops - up to six participants - in order to provide close individual attention to everyone.

Other things to note

We will use lettering equipment such as brushes and watercolor paints—so do not wear your favorite clothes in case you spill paints on them.

Up to 6 guests ages 16 and up can attend.

All participants (and the host) must wear a protective face covering.

Keep a safe physical distance between yourself and other people. When you meet your host(s) and other guests, don't shake hands or hug—try a no-contact greeting instead.

Hello, there. I am a very patient and fun Tokyo-based watercolor brush-lettering Hong Kong artist with artworks exhibited in Australia and Hong Kong. I can speak three languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I have seven years of teaching experience. Art is a big part of my life, and I enjoy sharing this passion with everybody.
